YOU TAKE A BRILLIANT art director/photographer who is sick of the daily grind of working at the Taj Mahal of Internet stock photos (if you guessed Getty Images, you might not be wrong) and give her the opportunity to open her own shop by creating a sweet identity and a sleek website with ultra-custom functionality, and what do you get? A gracious client, and a dazzling little company called Viewfinder.

Viewfinder was created from the ground up, both in the client’s backyard and in the Mitchel Design studio. We started with a half dozen logo concepts, which the client (did we mention she is brilliant?) narrowed down to the best one. Next came an identity package, including business cards with interchangeable color images.

That was the easy stuff. The website was the real challenge, for it was to serve not only as showcase for the company’s work and services but also as a secure point of communication among all personnel involved in photo shoots. Oh, and it needed to include secure lightboard capabilities so that Viewfinder could present and edit images in conjunction with stock photo agencies and clients.

Good thing we have a crackerjack programming team in eastern Europe. We couldn’t have done it without them. Viewfinder has complete control over its site and is able to change background images; create, edit and delete portfolios; share documents; send and receive lightboards; and basically run the planet from its custom-made user-friendly administration site.
